We came to New Zealand to see my Dad and Josh. So we spent lots of time in Wellington.
We went kayaking in the harbour
We loved Zelandia
We cycled around the bays. Scorching bay is gorgeous. But it was incredibly windy cycling past the airport.
We also cycled down the Hutt River to Days Bay
At Days Bay we saw the old cable car up to my grandparents house.
And on our last night we saw Little Blue Penguins
Picton is the most scenic town. You get there from Wellington on the Picton Ferry, which must be one of the most scenic boat trips in the world.
Then we took a small ferry to the start of the Queen Charlotte Track
The first day is quite easy and we really enjoyed it.
The 2nd day is even shorter and we were looking forward to spending the afternoon at Punga Cove
Day 3 is very long but is also the most scenic.
The Portage Hotel is where my parents had their honeymoon. It's another goregous hotel.
We both had blisters and had a long 14 miles to walk.
We needed to be at Anikawa by 4pm to get our boat back to Picton. It was hard. But completing the track felt great. 70 km in 4 days
The next morning we had a kayak trip before catching the ferry back to Wellington. Sue is now a convert to sea kayaking.
Rotorua is truly amazing. We spent 4 days there with Josh.
The geothermal parks are spectacular
And the Maori shows were well done and great fun.
